Match Rules


THE FOLLOWING MATCH RULES (THE “MATCH RULES”) APPLY TO ALL MATCHES. PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THESE MATCH RULES BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO PLAYING ANY MATCH. PLEASE NOTE: ANY CAPITALISED TERMS USED BUT NOT DEFINED IN THESE MATCH RULES HAVE THE SAME MEANING AS SET OUT IN OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

 

1. PLAYING MATCHES AND REPORTING RESULTS

1.1. Once you have accepted a Match (of any type) you have [2 hours] to complete the Match.

1.2. Once the Match has been played, both you and your opponent are required to promptly and accurately report the Match result (which must be within [2 hours] of the Match being accepted) by following the instructions on the App.

1.3. Once the Match result has been reported by one Player, the other Player has 30 minutes to confirm or dispute the reported Match result. If the Match result is disputed, a Dispute (as defined below) will automatically be created. If no such response is received within 30 minutes, the result reported by the first Player shall be deemed confirmed.

 

2. ABANDONED MATCHES

2.1. If neither Player reports a result within 2 hours of the Match being confirmed, the Match will be considered abandoned (an “Abandoned Match”).

2.2. Except for Tournament and League Matches (where all Entry Fees are non-refundable in accordance with our terms and conditions and payout and withdrawal policy) you will not be charged an Entry Fee for an Abandoned Match and any ring-fenced Entry Fees will be refunded to you.

2.3. Abandoned Matches will not be reported on your profile and will not affect your statistics.

2.4. An Abandoned Match cannot be replayed. In the event that the Abandoned Match was a H2H Match, the Players involved may arrange to play each other again but this will require setting up a new Match.

 

3. IN-GAME MATCH RULES

3.1. In respect of the particular video game being used to play the Match (the “Game”), Players must only use the in-Game rules agreed between the Players on the App. Any deviation from the rules agreed between the Players on the App will be unenforceable and may result in the disqualification of the Player responsible for the deviation.

3.2. Players should ensure that they are clear on all in-Game settings to be used for a Match (including, for example (and without limitation): game length, game type, controls, game speed and squad type). Only agreed in-Game settings may be used during a Match. Should a Match be played without using agreed Match settings, the Match will be considered abandoned.

3.3. Matches must not be played using any custom features, items, games, rosters or players. For the purposes of this rule 3.3, anything that is not standard-issue in the Game shall be considered custom. If there is any dispute between Players over whether a particular feature, item, game, roster or player is standard-issue or custom, the opinion of Versus Gaming shall be final and binding.

3.4. If we consider you to have intentionally used rules or settings that have not been agreed, or any custom feature, game, roster or player(s) in order to gain a competitive advantage, the Match will be automatically deemed to have been lost by you and we may (at our sole discretion) suspend or terminate your Account with immediate effect.

3.5. You are not required to participate in any Match if you have reason to suspect your opponent is in breach of these Match Rules. In the event that you choose not to play a Match for this reason, please email us straight away (at help@versusgaming.uk) setting out the reasons for your decision and attach any supporting evidence (for example, screenshots) you have available.

 

4. LAG

4.1. We understand that internet connection speeds can vary and that lag may be a factor in some Matches. If both Players are able to play the Match, then the Match should be played. If you consider that lag may be a factor for you in respect of a certain Game, you should consider choosing to compete in Matches using a Game with a lower chance of lag playing a factor.

4.2. If we consider you to have intentionally used lagging (or to have unplugged or otherwise affected your internet connection) to give yourself a competitive advantage, the Match will be automatically forfeited by you and we may (at our sole discretion) suspend or terminate your Account with immediate effect.

 

5. DISPUTES

5.1. We take disputes between Players (“Disputes”) very seriously and will attempt to resolve Disputes as reasonably and fairly as possible.

5.2. A Dispute will automatically be created in the event that two Players report different Match results.

5.3. You may also raise a Dispute in relation to a Match at any time by emailing us at help@versusgaming.uk. Please provide full details and supporting documentation to allow us to consider your Dispute.

5.4. In order to help us to resolve potential Disputes, we encourage all Players to gather evidence (including screenshots and video evidence) of Matches played, Match results and anything which may evidence a breach of these Match Rules or our terms and conditions (or compliance with the same if you suspect your opponent is going to raise a Dispute). Unfortunately, we are highly unlikely to be able to resolve a Dispute without being provided with any supporting evidence.

5.5. In the event that you exit, quit or disconnect from a Match from a losing or tied position, your opponent will be entitled to initiate a Dispute. If you cannot provide evidence showing that you had a reasonable excuse for leaving the Match, you will be deemed to have lost the Match. Any Player that repeatedly exits, quits or disconnects from Matches may (at our sole discretion) have their Account suspended or terminated with immediate effect.

5.6. You must not attempt to report a victory in respect of an unplayed Match or report the result of any Match before it has been completed. Any Player found to be in breach of this Rule 5.5 may (at our sole discretion) have their Account suspended or terminated with immediate effect.

5.7. In the event that we consider you to have intentionally reported results inaccurately or falsified evidence in relation to a Dispute, you will be deemed to have lost the relevant Match and you may (at our sole discretion) have your Account suspended or terminated with immediate effect.

5.8. The opinion of Versus Gaming shall be final and binding in relation to all Disputes.

 

6. DECORUM

6.1. As a rule of thumb, you should treat other Players as if they were sat next to you. We encourage a little good-natured smack talking but you should keep it reasonable and respectful at all times.

6.2. If we receive reports from other Players of you displaying any abusive or offensive language or behaviour, these reports will be investigated and may result in your Account being suspended or terminated with immediate effect.

 

Versus Gaming – Match Rules (updated 18.10.2018)
